Blizzard, the makers of World of Warcraft describe their game as: “allowing thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles” They go on to say how players will” form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory”

Surely this fantasy would easily replace the one in which most terrorists seem to live. Although there are ten races and nine classes of characters available to chose from in the game, the most important choice is which faction one wishes to fight for. This then has an impact on what you are able to accomplish in your fantasy world. So, fanaticism would still be possible, and as one can only talk to players in one’s own faction, the feeling of belonging to a special group or team would be well established.

Having created the character of choice, one is “set loose upon the world”, and what a world it is, full of creatures of all shapes and sizes, offering varying degrees of threat All of these fantasy figures live in vast and varied landscapes, which are so very different from one’s own environment. Many of which pose a real threat to the faction to which one belongs. Liberally sprinkled throughout these lands, are quest givers who will ask one to slay enemies, deliver packages etc. and for this there are rewards. These can be material rewards such as gold, weapons and armour, or more nebulous like magic and potions, ideal for the more esoteric player.

Some of the races have achieved immortality, whilst others are considered to be almost immortal, so have a lifespan, which greatly exceeds several millennia. This could be the ultimate goal for anyone contemplating a life filled with terrorising others.
